Welcome Parents to F. S. Barry Elementary

Welcome to Barry School!

The Franklyn S Barry School PTA welcomes you to our school.  We think you’ll find Barry school to be a caring place where kids can learn and excel.  We hope you and your child will like it here.

Barry school has an active PTA that provides support to our school.  Currently, the PTA is over 100 members strong.  We hope you’ll consider joining the PTA next year.  Information on dues and volunteer opportunities will come home with your child promptly at the start of next school year.

Our PTA meetings are held on the last Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.  at Barry School.

What does the PTA do?

  • The Barry PTA puts real dollars into the school and we decide how they are used. We are able to provide supplemental programs and services for our school that couldn’t otherwise be supported within the limitations of the district budget.  Here are some examples of how the PTA makes a difference for students and staff:
    • We frequently fund up to 50% of the cost of school assemblies and programs
    • We collect Boxtops for Education and coordinate other fundraising efforts
    • We support the classrooms and special-areas with start-up grants for supplies
    • We promote literacy through a summer reading program and free books for students
    • We coordinate school beautification and promote pride in the school
    • Our mini-grants help pay for things like field trips and classroom libraries
    • We organize community events like the Barry Carnival or a Outdoor Movie Night and the Founders’ Day Dinner

Why should you join PTA?

  • Being involved in your child’s school shows your child that you believe education is a priority.
    • More than 30 years’ worth of research has proven that children do better when their parents are involved both at home and at school. Self-esteem grows. This is a simple way for you to help your child succeed.
    • We can’t do it without you- PTA activities can’t happen without volunteers.

Nothing demonstrates your commitment to education like being interested and involved.
